MLK Scholars:
- The MLK Scholars program is a university-wide honors program at NYU that brings together the brightest students at the university from a variety of diverse backgrounds. All the students in the program have displayed a passion for community service and leadership in high school
- Every week, the members of the program (about 30 freshman and 20 sophomores) meet to discuss leadership, justice, social equality, and other topics that revolve around a common theme that is derived from a quote by Dr. King
- All members of the program take part in a travel colloquium to further enhance what is learned in seminar. In 2011, the program went to New Orleans to help rebuild houses destroyed by Katrina. In 2012, we went to Ghana for nine days to learn about the history, culture, and natural beauty of the country.
- Other events that take place through this program include guest speakers, scholars weekend, a teach-in during black-history month, and cultural events
